Needles, CA

June 15, 2012
We drove from high-altitude Flagstaff to desert Needles. The landscape is beautiful with rolling hills and red rocks. We had a final Cracker barrel fix in Kingman. It is over 100 degrees with single digit humidity. It stayed over 80 all night. The marine layer and June gloom at home is beginning to sound good! We're staying at the Elk's Lodge and enjoyed a drink in their air conditioned bar. They have planted some trees along the South West border of the RV sites. They should be very nice when they grow, giving much needed shade.

Flagstaff, AZ

June 14, 2012
Leah and the dogs took a walk before leaving for Flagstaff. After a cold night it got quite warm. We stayed again at Black Bart's and enjoyed another dinner show. About 80 Rotary International Ambassador exchange students from 19 different countries came in for dinner. These teenagers are touring the south-central area of the USA. They were a beautiful group of young people! We hope these are our next world leaders.

Gallup, NM

June 13, 2012
The drive to Gallup was pretty with the desert and red rocks of the SW. We're back to warm, dry weather. The altitude is over 6000. We're at the USA RV Park in Gallup. They have nice side-by-side parking - no sewer by our dining table! They also have an enclosed dog yard and a nice walking trail. They serve a barbecue dinner and have an ice cream social afterwards, but we needed to eat our left over steaks. Samantha is doing well now and we took a walk after dinner along the trail.

Santa Rosa, NM

June 12, 2012
We awoke at 5:00 AM to a thunder and lightning storm. It lasted until about 9:30, causing a little delay in departure. The lightning display outside the RV front window was spectacular! The day then became warm and sunny. With the time zone change we still arrived at the Santa Rosa RV Park early. The WiFi worked well, but no 3G. The park has a restaurant with good barbecued ribs and brisket. We over ate again and have more leftovers in the refrig! Leah and Samantha were taking a nice after dinner walk when Sam tried to play with a tarantula! She had some diarrhea earlier in the day, probably from putting her nose into and eating everything she sees.

Amarillo, TX

June 11, 2012
It was getting very hot and humid in Clinton. We stopped for gas and then stopped at a Love's to try to find a new water pressure regulator, but no luck. So we then stopped for breakfast at a Flying J, but still no regulator. It became a bit windy on the road. We continued on to the Amarillo Ranch RV Park where we were able to purchase one. Now our water pressure has greatly improved. The old regulator must have been gradually failing for awhile. There is so much to learn about RVs! In Amarillo it was hot, windy, and dry. The Big Texan State Ranch and Brewery picked up people from the RV Park for dinner. It is an interesting place - the filets we had were wonderful. We watched some men eating a 72 ounce steak! We couldn't finish the 8-oz one! Leah added a Texan teddy bear to her collection. The evening was beautiful for dog walking.

Clinton, OK

June 10, 2012
We went to the 9:00 AM Mass at St. Thomas More Church in Tulsa. They have only that one Mass in English out of a total of six - it's a heavily Mexican community. We then drove to Clinton, OK, back at the Hargus RV Park. It was very hot at 100 degrees. While setting up we found that our water pressure regulator had busted so we had to remove it before getting any water. We'll have to find someplace to get a new one.

Tulsa, OK

June 9, 2012
The rally ended with a good get-away breakfast. The RVF presented the local fire department with $1500 for special jackets worn in rescue operations. Good-byes and wishes for safe travels were exchanged until we meet again. We headed down the road and ended up at the Mingo RV Park in Tulsa, OK. There are many feral cats here making it hard to control Samantha. She got away once, but did come back when Joe saw her and called. She is so strong and fast! It was over 90 degrees with high humidity, and stayed near 80 all night.

Branson, MO

June 8, 2012
We had a free day today. After the continental breakfast we drove to another craft mall and saw a lot of interesting things. They have the largest quilt store that we have ever seen with rooms of patterns and fabrics and ready made quilts. We ate lunch at the Burger Shack and drove around town. We came back for Happy Hour and a catered dinner and a RVF business meeting. We won the bid on a few items in the silent auction for the Highway Safety Fund. We're getting ready to leave tomorrow.

Branson, MO

June 8, 2012
Today was a whirlwind day! We started by going to the local Rotary Club's breakfast meeting at 7:00 AM. At 8:45 we boarded the bus for a tour of the College of the Ozarks. Here the students work on campus for their tuition, room, and board. They make and sell various products, maintain the campus, etc.. We toured the Foster Museum on campus. They had a lot of old time artifacts, crafts, needlework, and dolls from the Ozark area. They had a military section, a gun display, a natural history area, clothing and hats, and much more. We had a first class lunch prepared and served by the culinary arts students. A theater student led the tour. We got back to the motor home with just enough time to walk the dogs before heading for the Jim Stafford Show. It was a fast moving show with good music and comedy. We arrived back in time for Happy Hour and fellowship. A good day!!

Joe went to the board meeting in the morning while Leah spent time walking with the dogs and catching up on e-mail, etc. Then we, along with Virginia and Glen, went to lunch at Fudruckers. We visited the craft mall and an old time 5 & 10 store. We did see a lot of stuff and junk! In the evening the board went to dinner at the White River Seafood House with delicious food, interesting decor, and surrounded by the lake. Coming back to camp we took a wrong turn and drove about 20 miles around the city to get back. That was a way to see a lot of scenery!

Branson, MO

June 6, 2012
We took Kirk to pick up his rental car near the Branson Airport. We did some shopping at Walmart to pick up hors d'oeuvres for the evening. At the Hamburger Shack we had a great hamburger with a choice of 20 toppings, very good fries and a malt. Happy Hour started at 3:00. We met and caught up with other campers as they came in. In the evening we enjoyed a Hillbilly roast pork dinner and entertainment by the Homestead Pickers from Silver Dollar City. Many dressed in hillbilly costumes, and prizes were rewarded. A good time was had!

June 5, 2012
Enterprise picked us up to get a rental car this morning. From there we visited the Toy Museum. They had everything - trucks, dolls, stuffed animals, games, Disney, Loony Tunes, guns, etc., etc. - room after room of stuff. We had lunch at a Cracker Barrel. We came back to camp, walked the dogs, and met others as they came in. In the evening we got together for Happy Hour before going to the Legends in Concert Show. It was a fun show. It stayed warm all night but not as humid as the day before.

Branson, MO

June 3 2012
We awoke to very heavy thunder showers. We went to Mass at St. Ann's in Carthage and then had lunch at El Charro Mexican restaurant nearby. It was about a 2-hour drive to the ABC RV Resort in Branson. The day was hot and muggy. We rested and took short walks. What a contrast from the dry weather in the South West!!

Carthage, MO

June 2, 2012
In the morning we took the dogs for a walk around a little lake near the Downstream Casino. We visited the Precious Moments Chapel and gardens today. Mr. Bouchard is a fantastic artist, with a great sense of humor and whimsy. Of course, we had to do some shopping! We stayed at the Big Red Barn RV Park nearby. It is a beautiful RV park with lots of green grass and trees and birds singing. We had time to do a little laundry and cleaning up. It was nice sitting outside in the warm evening listening to the birds.

Joplin, MO

June 2, 2012
It rained off and on all day, but the drive was still pleasant from Clinton, OK. We camped at the Downspring Casino in Joplin. They have water and electric, and it's FREE! We had a good duck dinner at the casino. Part of the casino property is in OK and part is in MO! KS also meets with OK and MO near here.

Clinton OK

May 31, 2012
We are at the Hargus RV Park in Clinton, OK. OKlahoma has a nice Welcome Center and rest stop with a large, fenced in dog park. The weather was quite warm and breezy. During the night there was a sudden heavy rain shower. In the morning the sun rise was beautiful with the rain drops on the windows reflecting the bright orange color.
