We left home on September 28, stopped for lunch at Peggy Sue's in Barstow, then spent the night at the Longstreet Casino over the Nevada border. It has been very hot! We arrived in Gold Point on 29 Sept. About 10 other rigs from our group are here, 18 are expected. We came early to get one of the electric sites, but we have to rely on our own water tank. Activities start on the first. It's supposed to cool down a little. We are enjoying the scenery, chukars, and cottontail and jack rabbits. We took a walk and did a little exploring this morning before it got too hot.

We had a great time at the Gold Point Rally. We explored the old mining town of Goldfield, drove along old railway beds and collected railroad spikes along the way, visited the Hardluck Mine Castle, and a couple of other 4-wheel drive runs. The weather was beautiful with bright blue skies and white clouds. One night we had thunder, lightning, and some rain. Herb from Gold Point cooked us some delicious meals. 18 motor homes got together and it was fun seeing old friends.

We had our farewell breakfast this morning. We had planned to go up to the Lake of the Springs RV Park near Marysville, CA and to meet Jean there. But there was snow and bad weather in the Donner Pass and the other passes to get there. So we decided it may be too dangerous to go there, and drove straight home. That was a great disappointment! We spent the night at Peggy Sue's on the way home.
