Hells Canyon

It was a beautiful drive from Baker City to the Hells Canyon Recreation Area along the Snake River. The river is the boundary between ID and Or. We had a good lunch in the little town of Halfway. We are at the Copperfield RV Park in Oxbow, OR on the river with lots of trees. It is a beautiful, clean park.

We drove to the Hells Canyon Visitors' Center to board a jet boat for a 6 hour cruse though the canyon. It is the deepest canyon in the US. We went through several rapids including 2 class 4. The occasional water splash felt good in the very hot sun! Lunch was served on the boat. The mountain and river scenery was awesome. We hope some of the pictures are good! It was unbelievable how pioneers homesteaded and ranched in this very remote, rugged area. It was a most enjoyable trip through the deep canyon.
