Mariposa Tour

19 March 2910
After a breakfast of local oranges and breads and coffee cakes made by our wagon masters we carpooled to the old mining town of Mariposa. Others chose the Wine Tour. The Mariposa Museum and History Center is an indoor historical museum and display of a one-room miner's cabin, outdoor mining equipment and Indian Village.
We visited the old Mariposa County Courthouse which was formed in September 1850, even before California became the 31st State of the Union. The Court has conducted normal proceedings continuously in this courthouse ever since, the longest active period for any courthouse west of the Rocky Mountains.
As there was still some time we went to the California State Mining and Mineral Museum. They had a lot of mining history and exceptional specimens of minerals and gems from around the world. The geological forms and colors were spectacular!
After Happy Hour we had dinner at the Putter's Restaurant at the golf course next to the RV Resort. This was followed by cookies and coffee back at the RV Park Clubhouse.
