Yesterday, Dave and Keith led us on a 4-wheel drive run through old railroad beds. After the heavy flooding about 3 weeks ago some of the roads were washed out. We drove through dry river beds and eventually got to Gold Field. We stopped several times to pick up old rusty railroad ties and to take pictures. Along the way we saw wild mules and donkeys. The highlight of the day was seeing a small herd of beautiful wild horses. In Goldfield we sat near the courthouse to eat our lunches. This town has a population of about 300, but there is not much left to it. The historical buildings are being left to fall apart and decay. It is a shame. We stopped at the Santa Fe Saloon which is 100 years old but still doing a thriving business. We got back to camp about 3:00 PM, and got together early for Happy Hour, so we could watch the presidential debates. Three more RV's came in. We then enjoyed a camp fire. It cooled off quite a bit last night - we needed our blankets!
