9 February 2010
It rained hard all night making a lake in front of our RV! Today we had a cold fierce wind all day! We slept in a little and made ourselves a good breakfast. We got our registration materials in the morning. and had an orientation meeting in the afternoon. We are going to be very busy for the next week! The Mardi Gras Season begins on 6 January, Twelfth night or 3 Kings Day, and ends with Ash Wednesday. In the evening was the Masquerade party in the Lakeside Arena. We had an open bar and were fed a good pork dinner that started with the traditional King and Queen cakes. The ones finding a baby in their cakes became the King and Queen. There was a costume parade and the best costumes were selected. That finished with praline cheese cake. Then there was dancing to a live jazz band. We fought the strong , icy cold wind walking back to the RV.
